Publish a ChatGPT website
Where to publish my ChatGPT website?
The short answer, the five places the site can go, and the one where ChatGPT does the publishing itself.
Short answer
A website written by ChatGPT is a set of static files, and it can go online in five places. ChatGPT Sites hosts it on a chatgpt.site address as part of a paid plan, Netlify Drop and GitHub Pages host the files for free if you handle them yourself, Vercel is the home for a full application with a server, and a publishing connector like SayLive lets ChatGPT put the site on a real address from the conversation, for €99 once. Two questions decide: is it a page or a full project, and should the site live inside ChatGPT or on an address you own?
What ChatGPT hands you
ChatGPT writes a site as code in the conversation, previews it, and can package the files as a download. With ChatGPT Sites, on paid plans, it also builds and hosts the result itself, on an address ending in openai.chatgpt.site. If you used Codex, the files are already in a project folder on your machine.
The two kinds of output are hosted differently. A preview or a download is not online until you put it somewhere. A Site is online from the start, on ChatGPT's domain, and its life is managed from inside ChatGPT.
Two things decide where the site should go: whether it is a page or an application with a server, and whether you want the address, and the files, to be yours.
Where a ChatGPT website can go
| Option | Best for | What you get | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Sites | A site you are happy to keep inside ChatGPT | ChatGPT builds and hosts it on an openai.chatgpt.site address, and you can connect a domain you already own. In public beta, managed from the conversation. | Included with Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu |
| Netlify Drop | Someone comfortable with files and DNS | Drag the exported folder into the browser and it is live on a netlify.app address. A free account keeps it, and you add your own domain and its certificate yourself. | Free plan at $0 |
| GitHub Pages or Vercel | A project you will keep developing in code, or an app that needs a server | A repository, a deploy pipeline and a real address, github.io or vercel.app, with your own domain on top. Vercel is the only option on this page that runs server code. | GitHub Pages: free, but not for a shop or an online business. Vercel: Hobby free for personal, non-commercial use, Pro from $20 a month |
| Just Publish | A free link now, with a cheap monthly upgrade | Upload a ZIP, or let ChatGPT send the files through their connector. The free tier lives on a justpublish.site subdomain and is archived after 30 days without traffic; a custom domain needs the monthly plan. | Free, or $9 a month with a domain |
| SayLive | A site you own as files, on an address that does not depend on your assistant | Say "publish my site" and ChatGPT puts it on yoursite.saylive.site, or on your own domain, included. A contact form, a review link with screenshots, versions and rollback. The same connector works in Claude, Cursor or Le Chat, so the site follows you if you change assistant. Static sites only. | €99 once, after 30 days free |

Let ChatGPT publish it: the SayLive connector
SayLive is a connector over the Model Context Protocol. ChatGPT accepts custom connectors on paid plans through Developer mode, and once SayLive is added, ChatGPT has a publish tool: the site goes from the conversation to a live address with no download and no deploy dashboard. ChatGPT asks you to confirm before the publish runs, which is its rule for every action that writes something.
- In ChatGPT settings, turn on Developer mode, then create a connector with the SayLive address.
- Sign in or create your SayLive account in the window that opens. That is what links the two.
- In the conversation, enable SayLive from the tools menu, then ask ChatGPT to build the site, or open the chat where it already did.
- Say "publish my site". ChatGPT asks you to confirm, sends the files, and replies with the live address.
- To change anything later, ask ChatGPT and say "publish" again. Every publish is a version you can roll back to.
With Codex, the gesture is two commands in the terminal: codex mcp add saylive --url https://mcp.saylive.ai/mcp then codex mcp login saylive. The rest is the same sentence.
Paste this to ChatGPT
If the SayLive connector is available, publish this site with it and give me the live address. If it is not, stop and tell me: I will add it in Developer mode with the address https://mcp.saylive.ai/mcp.
The connector address is https://mcp.saylive.ai/mcp. The docs cover every assistant.
When SayLive is the wrong answer
SayLive publishes static sites: pages, styles, scripts that run in the browser, images. If your ChatGPT project needs accounts, a database or code that runs on a server, it is a web application, and ChatGPT Sites or Vercel with a repository are the right homes for it.
If you are on a paid plan and happy to keep the site inside ChatGPT, Sites is the shortest path, and it takes a domain you own. SayLive is for the site you want as files of your own, on an address that does not depend on which assistant you use next: the same connector publishes from Claude, Cursor, Gemini CLI or Le Chat, and the brand memory belongs to the site, not to the chat.
A site published with SayLive stays yours as files: download any version as a ZIP and host it anywhere, any time.
Questions
Can ChatGPT publish a website by itself?
On paid plans, yes: ChatGPT Sites builds and hosts a site on an openai.chatgpt.site address, in public beta as of 13 September 2026, with a domain you own if you have one. Outside Sites, ChatGPT needs a publishing connector such as SayLive to put files on a live address from the conversation.
Does SayLive work with ChatGPT?
Yes. ChatGPT accepts custom connectors over the Model Context Protocol on paid plans, in Developer mode. Add SayLive once, enable it in the conversation, and "publish my site" does the rest, with a confirmation from you before the publish runs.
Do I need to export a ZIP from ChatGPT?
Not with a connector. ChatGPT sends the files to SayLive directly over the Model Context Protocol, and the site is live before you have opened a folder. A ZIP is only needed for the options where you upload the site yourself, like Netlify Drop or Just Publish.
Does SayLive work with Codex too?
Yes. Run codex mcp add saylive --url https://mcp.saylive.ai/mcp then codex mcp login saylive, and Codex publishes the project folder the same way.
What does it cost to publish a ChatGPT website with SayLive?
€99 once, after a free 30-day trial during which the site is already online with a small banner. Hosting, your own domain, the contact form and updates through your assistant are included, and there is no subscription: the whole price is one line.
Free for 30 days. Two minutes, no credit card.
